Hello, my shih tzu is already 2 months old. Pero d pa fully lumalabas ung mga milk teeth nia, just a few molar tooth sa baba and few upper front teeth. while ung kapatid niya is fully lumabas na. normal po ba to?
Hi Furparent Ivy!
For tear stains, it is normal for short snouted and long coated dogs. There are commercially available tear wipes and rinses you can use. You may also want to consider regular grooming appointments that include facial trims that would prevent build up that leads to staining. Protect and nourish their whole skin and coat with the omega fatty acids in pedigree.
For brushing their teeth, you may begin training them to getting used to a finger toothbrush and water when they are puppies as young as 6 weeks old. Remember to use veterinary tooth paste as human toothpaste may be toxic to them. Good luck po!
Hi Furparent Allaeissa!
Puppies tend to growl as a sign of uncomfort or upset. It may be a small sign of aggression but more likely a signal that they are upset or being playful. Just be careful not to trigger them into biting whether they are playful or not.
Hello furparent Robin!
For delayed eruption of puppy teeth, it is best to have this checked with your veterinarian to assess the gum line and see where the teeth are located as well through dental x-rays is optional. Shih tzus as also someother breeds of short-snouted dogs face this problem as well but hopefully we can confirm with a thorough assessment especially if they are having a difficulty in eating.
Hello furparent Janny!
For tartar or gingival plaque, the often solution for this is regular brushing of teeth of your dog with veterinary toothpaste available in pet supplies and clinics. It is recommended to do everyday but usually pet owners may opt for once a week.
For thicker plaque, it is often removed through dental prophylaxis at the vet which is recommended once a year for dogs to maintain their oral health. At home, you may also give them Pedigree dentastix to minimize plaque build up. Good luck!
Hello Furparent Faye!
This behavior is called Coprophagia. This may be linked to possible malnutrition or other diseases but it may also be due to boredom or anxiety. The initial thing to do is clean up after they poop, and limit their access to it. Supervise how they behave around poop when they are walking outside.
provide toys and other things they may bite or play with for training. Most importantly, ensure the best nutrition for them through the diet may help such as pedigree puppy food. Goodluck!
Hello Furparent joan!
For tearstains, it’s removal may be done using tear wipes. Although tear stains are normal in short-snouted and long-coated dogs, it is preferred to have them groomed regularly. For long-coated dogs, a regular face trim may lessen the stains. If excessive discharge from the eye is occurring, it will be best to have this checked with your veterinarian. Good luck!
Hi, Normal lang po ba sa pomeranian palagi nagluluha? Twice a day ko po kasi sya tinatanggalan ng muta and minsan napapansin ko po na papikit pikit sya.
Hello Furparent Rose-Ann!
For Hypoallergenic dog food, it is best to know if your dog has a specific allergy or intolerance that they are confirmed to have through a feed trial that may last months to confirm with your veterinarian. You may check the ingredients of your chosen Pedigree dog food, to confirm but the usual protein source is egg, beef, chicken, and lamb.
Hello furparent Cindy!
Pomeranians are prone to having tear stains. Proper grooming and keeping the face area clean and dry should help. If excessive na po yung tearing niya, as well as nagkpapakita ng signs of discomfort or hindi nakakakita, please bring them to the vet already. There may be a possible irritant in the eye that is causing the tearing, but best to make sure with a check up. Good luck!
Henlo there, Belle! I’m Ped the Pup, your friendly pupper here in the app. You can check for our Dog Care tab for more tips for new fur parents! Boops!
Henlo there, Aiza! I’m Ped the Pup, and I love my toys. Don’t worry. Our vet fren will answer your question next Saturday, 3pm! Tune in when she’s online again!
Hi Furparent Aiza!
Young puppies tend to teeth and some find it uncomfortable thus result in biting and chewing. Since at this age their teeth are starting to erupt, some furparents opt to give toys with adequate play time to tire them out as well. Some may also give puppy treats as to soothe their gums. As they get a little bit older, you may also opt for pedigree dentastix as to support their oral hygiene. Good luck!
Hi Furparent Karen!
Excellent question! for puppies, it is recommended to bathe them at the earliest age of 2 months or 8 weeks old. For first bathes, try to make the experience less stressful, by using warm water, and keeping it short. Also remember to schedule the bath avoiding their vaccination schedules since some vaccines have a week long no-bath period. Professional grooming may be done when their vaccinations are complete. Good luck furparent!
Hello po ask ko lng po anu po pwed pangtanggal ng balakubak sa dogs? After 4 days po ligo parang nangangamoy aso na dogs ko dahil sa balakubak and parang chicken skin na makapal ung part ng leeg nia and paa?
Hi furparent Wilma!
Good luck po!
Hello Furparent Faye!
Huskies tend to have thicker coats than other dogs. With this, it is best to comb their hair especially during shed season. Aside from regualr baths, you may also use towel or sponge baths to wipe them down when they are starting to accumulate odor. Spray-ons may also help with the smell. Good luck!
Henlo there, Sarah! I’m Ped the Pup, and I think you should bring your furbaby to the vet asap so he can check what kind of liquid is coming out of your dog’s ear and what to do.
